Maximum juvenile sentence for 14-year-old involved in fatal Academy Road crash

Winston Charleston’s charges will be handled in juvenile court and he’ll remain under court supervision until he turns 21. The ruling is the result of his involvement in a fatal car crash on Academy road in June.

Charleston took his mother’s car keys and drove around with friends, ultimately killing the 22-year-old passenger of a car at Academy and Willits roads.

Today, Charleston admitted to the charges against him and will be held for four years and supervised for the remaining three.

Police say Charleston was driving at 85mph when he slammed into the other car, killing Daniel Fouracre
