Market East property snags major new client

Listen

A fixture on West Market Street in Philadelphia is moving to Market East.

The Design Center has been near 30th Street Station for three decades, as a location for vendors who provide luxurious home interiors.  Now they are moving to the new East Market development says Dan Killinger of East Market.

“They are going to take 50 thousand square feet, two full floors of our building at 34 South 11th Street.”

Killinger says the Design Center will help attract younger people to this part of Center City.

“It’s a natural fit for us, there’s this odd overlap between Mom’s Organic Marketplace, an organic grocer on the ground floor with the design center upstairs and contemporary apartments across the street.”

Construction is underway on both the apartments and commercial space with the first tenants expected next summer.
