Maintenance changes traffic patterns on Northeast Extension

Bank some more time for yourself if you’re traveling the Turnpike’s Northeast Extension today. Maintenance near the Lehigh Tunnel will result in traffic pattern changes.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is advising motorists traveling on the Turnpike’s Northeastern Extension (I-476) to be prepared for daytime single-lane patterns and two-way traffic in the Lehigh Tunnel because the tunnel’s northbound tube will be closed for maintenance.

The magic hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., assuming the weather cooperates. Motorists are urged to turn on headlights, slow down, keep some space between you and the car in front of you, and for pete’s sake, don’t change lanes while in the tunnel.
