Runaway convict captured after escaping from police in Roxborough

Philadelphia police have captured a convict who escaped from custody Thursday morning in the Roxborough section of the city.

At around 1:30 p.m., officers found Terrence Stockton, 18, on the 2100 block of Homer Street, according to a police department spokeswoman.

Officer Jillian Russell said Stockton, convicted of aggravated assault, had eluded police at around 8:50 a.m. near the intersection of Henry Avenue and Cathedral Road.

Stockton had stopped at the location to use the bathroom before heading to Danville, Pa. from the Youth Study Center, she said. Russell said Stockon was handcuffed at the time.

According to a thread on Philadelphia Speaks, the escape reportedly caused several schools in the area to lock their doors. Fernando Gallard, a spokesman with the Philadelphia School District, said he received no lockdown alerts and no district schools were locked down. Gallard added that Shawmont School requested extra police presence.
