Limerick’s Exelon reactors back up and running

So far, so good. Exelon’s Unit 1 reactor is back up and running as of yesterday following three unexpected shutdowns of both of the Limerick plant’s reactors over the course of two days.

The Mercury reports Exleon announced yesterday morning Unit 1 has been restored and further tests will be done to determine what caused the shutdowns.

Here’s the timeline of the shutdowns:

    May 29: Unit 2 shuts down at 5 a.m.
May 30: Unit 2 shuts down again at noon
June 2: Unit 2 back on line
June 3: Unit 1 shuts down

Unless more “scrams” happen at the plant, more oversight from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission likely won’t be necessary.
