Land protection

As Philadelphia’s Commission on Parks and Recreation prepares to vote next week on the Open Lands Protection Ordinance, the ordinance has been revised.

The revised ordinance, which you can read here, outlines the goals of the ordinance, which is to protect parkland. The transfer or conversation of open space, the revision says, will be an exception, not a rule. The revision also emphasizes the importance of public input.

Once accepted by the Commission at the Jan. 19 vote, City Council will hold a public comment session before reviewing it.
