Laid off Atlantic City police officers start process of returning to work

Laid off Atlantic City police officers will have to take a battery of tests before they can return to work, but the process has begun.

Background, drug, medical and psychological tests must be completed and passed before the 30 officers can resume working.

The Press of Atlantic City reports City Council has not formally approved the budget that will bring the officers back since a $10 million increase had council members arguing at Wednesday’s meeting, but the officers can pursue their tests in the meantime.
