NJ Senate panel to consider MVC computer glitches

A New Jersey Senate panel is gathering to look at ways of improving the state’s aging technology infrastructure.

Today’s session comes in the wake of recent computer crashes that affected operations at several state agencies, most noticeably the Motor Vehicle Commission–crashes on July 11 and 23 kept MVC workers idle and caused long lines and frustrated patrons across the state.

The panel will attempt to determine if the crashes were isolated incidents or representative of deeper problems. While there’s been some bickering, lawmakers say they aren’t going to use today’s meeting to point fingers.
