Injured teen wrestler has surgery this morning

A judge ruled only yesterday that doctors at Jefferson University Hospital have permission to operate on Mazzerati Mitchell. The 16-year-old was taken into surgery this morning.

The Delaware County Times reports the 16-year-old went under the knife this morning for back injuries he suffered last week during an Upper Chichester High School wrestling match.

His parents are disappointed with the outcome, as they wanted to treat their son with herbs and physical therapy.

Carolyn Beeler is checking into the legal procedures that allow a court to overrule parents’ decisions about medical treatment.
