Inching forward

After months of working with a temporary acting commissioner, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has nominated someone to fill the role on a more permanent basis.

Christie has announced 56-year-odl Christopher Cerf as the top candidate, the Associated Press reports. As a former educational official in New York, Cerf closed 90 public schools and increased charter options.

His nomination requires confirmation from the Senate.
