Inaugural Roxborough ‘Art is Life’ Festival comes to Ridge Avenue [gallery]

Roxborough’s inaugural “Art is Life” spring street festival on Saturday was filled with creative energy and fine craftsmanship. Running along Ridge Avenue between Green Lane and Leverington Avenue, local artists displayed their artwork and many even spent the day creating new pieces of art on-the-spot for visitors to view.

Set up on three different stages were the American Culinary Federation with live demonstrations by local chefs; a performing arts stage with live music by local musicians; and a visual arts stage to see local artists creating work throughout the day.

James Calamia, executive director of Roxborough Development Corporation, said the goal was stand out from other festivals. “The whole mission of ‘Art is Life’ is to celebrate how art enters our everyday life, that art is something you can experience and let it inspire your everyday life”.
