Improvements coming to southern Delaware intersection

The intersection of Route 1 and 30/Wilkins Road south of Milford will close for a safety improvement project.

The Delaware Department of Transportation says the action is being taken in response to concerns from area residents and lawmakers.  Interim improvements are planned for nearby crossovers over the next six to eight weeks.  DelDOT Secretary Shailen Bhatt said emergency responders also met with transportation planners to discuss serious crashes at the intersection, some of which have been fatal.  An interchange overhaul is also being planned starting in the spring or summer of 2012, to be completed by summer 2014.  CLICK HERE for a map of the area.
