Holiday shopping in the Northwest

Last week’s Black Friday was tame in the Northwest, despite a few (very few) hot spots. But retailers in most commercial districts have a plan. In Chestnut Hill, Mt. Airy and Manayunk that plan involves winning shoppers over with slow charm, instead of fast deals. In Germantown things are a little different. Retailers seem to be hoping big sales will net a decent flow from shoppers who may be more apt to head to the malls. For more see the related stories in Germantown/West Oak Lane, East Fall/Roxborough/Manayunk and Mt. Airy/Chestnut Hill.
