Governor Markell says Beau Biden “looks and sounds great”

Delaware Governor Jack Markell spent part of Thursday morning visiting Attorney General Beau Biden at Philadelphia’s Jefferson Medical Center.

“He looks great, he sounds great, I was really pleased and impressed and thank God,” Delaware Governor Jack Markell said.    “He certainly wants to get home and he certainly wants to get back to work and he looks fantastic, he looks and sounds just like always,” Markell added.

It was the first time the Governor has seen Biden face to face since the 41-year-old went into the hospital for treatment of a mild stroke on Tuesday morning.

“I was scared to death on Tuesday when I heard the news, but thank God.  It’s a miracle, it really is,” Markell said.

Coincidentally, Biden’s hospitalization happened the same day a Governor-commissioned review was released by Widender Law School Dean Linda Ammons on how police, hospitals, the Delaware Board of Medical Practice, and the Justice Department handled years-old allegations against Dr. Earl Bradley.  The Lewes pediatrician is behind bars awaiting trial for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting more than 100 of his young patients.

The historic child abuse case unfolded within weeks of Biden’s return from a year-long service in Iraq with his Delaware Army National Guard Unit, the 261st Signal Brigade of Smyrna.

Biden was elected as Delaware’s Attorney General in 2006 and is up for re-election in November.
