Gone fishin

I’ll be away for a week, on a family vacation.

Keep your ear out for my interview on Fresh Air with writer Jim Shepard. He has a collection of short stories with subjects as varied as a military black ops specialist and a 15th century French nobleman who happens to be a serial killer.

And I commend for your reading and viewing a story and video by Daily News reporter Jan Ransom about Toby Rich, a true character who hangs around city hall, and always asks the first question at a mayoral news conference.

And for your listening pleasure, check out the public radio program American Routes’ exploration of Philadelphia music, from the mummers to Questlove, with an appearance by former DJ Michael Nutter. Find it here.
