Do you believe in ghosts? Discover the Ghosts of the Great Road by taking a tour hosted by the Germantown Historical Society on May 19 at 3 p.m.

 

Germantown Avenue was once referred to as the “Great Road” by Native Americans. The Market Squart Tour will begin at the Germantown Historical Society located at  5501 Germantown Ave. The attendees will get the opportunity to explore the surrounding neighborhood with a focus on the homes that have experienced paranormal activity over the years, including the Germantown Historical Society, Grumblethorpe and the Christopher Sower House.

Atendees can also choose to explore the Colonial Compound at 6 p.m. The starting place is the Upsala Mansion located at 6430 Germantown Avenue. This tour explores the area surrounding Cliveden including a home touched by the Yellow Fever Epidemic and the site of the Battle of Germantown where over sixty soldiers lost their lives.
