Gas prices up on New Jersey Turnpike, but road work takes a break

If you’re driving through New Jersey this weekend it’ll cost you more, but your trip will be faster.

Good news and bad news for weekend drivers: Gas prices on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway are going up. But, the Department of Transportation is suspending construction for the holiday.

The Associated Press reports gas prices on the Turnpike and Parkway are going up 11 cents to $3.73 a gallon today. That’s the third increase this month.

While you’re cursing under your breath, take heart in knowing you won’t be slowed down by road work, since the DOT will suspend construction between 6 a.m. Saturday and noon Monday to accommodate the holiday traffic. So you can get to the gas station faster.
