Funds for fun

In Medford Lakes, NJ, the borough does not include parks maintenance or improving funding in its budget or employ a recreational staff. So volunteers are now working to revitalize those areas on their own.

The Medford Lakes Athletic Association launched the Community Action Project to focus on one recreational site each year for improvement. Beginning with Wilson Field, volunteers will raise money to enhance local parks. From sports fields to playgrounds to passive recreation areas, all aspects of the parks are due for a facelift.

The Burlington County Times has information about exactly what’s in store for Wilson Field and its surrounding park, and what the Athletic Association has on tap as its next project.
