Fumo co-defendant’s new sentence includes fines but no prison time

Vince Fumo’s co-defendant is in court today, less than a week after the former senator was re-sentenced to 61 months in prison.

Ruth Arnao is free after serving 10 months of a one-year sentence for allegedly working with Fumo steal $1.4 million from a South Philly community group. But as the Associated Press reports, she’s subject to re-sentencing after an appeals court decided the original sentences below the recommended guidelines had not been thoroughly explained.

Update, 12:30 p.m. Arnao will pay $800,000 in restitution but won’t return to prison, the Associated Press reports.

Fumo’s re-sentencing got him an extra six months in prison. The sentencing guideline for Arnao is nine to 11 years.
