Fumo case returns to court as both sides seek new sentencing

Lawyers involved in the fraud case against former State Sen. Vince Fumo will return to court today, as both parties seek a new sentence.

Prosecutors want a stiffer sentence for Fumo, who received 55 months for the federal charges. Fumo’s lawyers, though, say he was denied an impartial jury and are seeking a new sentence and a new trial.

You can read the full preview of today’s 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals hearing here, as Susan Phillips reported it yesterday. Lawyers will file into court this afternoon, as Fumo sits in a Kentucky federal prison.
