I’m gone; don’t miss Charlie LeDuff on Fresh Air

Regular readers know I do some work on “Fresh Air with Terry Gross,” and I don’t hawk every interview I do here. But you shouldn’t miss Charlie LeDuff, who’s scheduled to air Monday, Feb. 11th.

He’s a veteran print and TV journalist whose new book is about his returning to his home town, Detroit, after a couple decades away, much of it as a national reporter for the New York Times.

As you can see from the video above – a TV piece on a sleazy city contract – Charlie is one-of-a-kind, and it comes through in the interview. His new book is “Detroit: An American Autopsy.”

I’m away till Valentine’s Day. If you miss the interview (at 3 and 7 on WHYY), you can always download it or listen at the Fresh Air website after it airs.

And, if you like you what you see on NewsWorks or hear on WHYY, consider pledging when our membership drive returns for one more day on Valentine’s Day, which as it happens is Terry Gross’s birthday – and Marty Moss Coane’s birthday – and mine.

    I know.

Call Thursday to pledge, or do it any time here.
