Fourth of July celebrations outside Center City

Some people prefer to celebrate the Fourth of July without the hassle of packing up beach chairs, planning train schedules or searching for parking.

For you homebodies, we’ve got a list of Fourth events that might be a little closer to the homestead.

No surprise here, the Northwest does its own thing. If you’re sticking close by, catch one of the parades, concerts and fireworks displays happening this weekend around the Northwest and the Montco suburbs.

If you’re intent on staying in the Great Northeast, Lawncrest is hosting its 96th annual Fourth celebration Monday with a parade, flea market, car show and fireworks display.

Princeton’s festivities last the whole weekend with a kick-off fireworks show Friday night. South Brunswick, East Windsor and other nearby towns are getting in on the action, too.

Newtown and Phoenixville are both mixing history and charity with their celebrations.
