Former coach waives preliminary hearing on charges for relationship with student

Bucks County resident James Civello waived his preliminary hearing day and returned to Montgomery County Jail as he awaits a formal arraignment on charges that he had a sexual relationship with a Shipley School student.

The former squash coach has been accused of carrying out a relationship with a 16-year-old. Unless he can post 10 percent of $100,000 bail, he’ll be in jail until his arraignment.

If released, several conditions will be placed upon him, as the Times Herald reports, including staying away from the Bryn Mawr school and its students and remaining in the state. He’ll be forbidden to contact the student with whom he had the allged relationship, her family and any minor under age 18.
