Bomb squad searches School District headquarters

    Update: The bomb squad and specially trained dogs searched district headquarters again this morning, Action News reports. District employees are being told to report anything suspicious. While no direct threat to Ackerman was made, she’ll continue to travel with her driver and safety personnel.

     

    Original report: Late Saturday night an emailed threat came to schools chief Dr. Arlene Ackerman. According to a release from the school district, the threat targeted the life of her and her staff at district headquarters at 440 North Broad St.

    The email indicated Monday at midday as the time of the event.

    In response the Philadelphia Police deployed bomb sniffing dogs at the headquarters building Sunday morning and found no evidence of a bomb. Police will keep searching the area. They have taken additional precautions to protect Ackerman, according to the release.
