Food series, community day make for busy West Philly Saturday

Two big events in West Philly will keep people busy today.

Overlapping events around the region will celebrate community and sustainable food.

Kicking off at 10 a.m. is the Sustainable Saturday food series. Learn about edible plants, beekeeping and local cheeses at various locations, then taste some local, grass-fed beef at 37th and Market.

Over at 50th and Locust, the Walnut Hill Community Association will celebrate 50 years in operation with a Community Day full of music, food and games. The event runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., so there’s plenty of time to catch both regional events.
