Follow-ups on power outages, check-ins with health departments

Good morning, Feeders! We’ve got a beautiful post-Irene day ahead of us, complete with full hurricane coverage.

Tom MacDonald will stay in touch with PECO, PSEG and Delmarva to keep us in the loop about power outages. He’ll also touch base with tree doctors, plumbers and other repair workers to see just how busy they are today.

We’ve seen Michael Nutter in his windbreaker and Chris Christie in his unbuttoned shirt. They dressed the part, but how well did our governments and emergency management offices perform during Irene? Lizz Fiedler will check in.

In New Jersey, Phil Gregory will have the details on the many flood-prone waterways and when we can expect Amtrak to be fully operational again.

Peter Crimmins is taking a break from Irene coverage today. He’ll have preview of two features tomorrow: Rachel Ray’s appearance in South Philly and the screening of a Sundance-winning film about tiles in Philly’s asphalt.

Kimberly Haas is reaching out to health departments about how they’re working with restaurants post-Irene to handle food and water recovery.

Down at PHL, things are slowly getting back to normal. Carolyn Beeler is headed there to see how people handled their cancellations.

And we’ll have continued coverage for you from the Northwest, where trees and waterways took an especially hard hit.

Don’t forget to share your photos and stories from Irene.
