Flooding damage closes Willistown bridge

Damage from recent flooding in Willistown forced the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to close the Whitehorse Road Bridge yesterday.

According to The Daily Local News, the bridge was closed after a bridge inspection discovered severe undermining beneath a bridge stone support abutment.

The bridge, located between the intersections of Whitehorse Lane and Fox Chase Road, is expected to remain closed until future repairs can be made to reinforce the foundation.

The Daily Local News reports PennDOT has inspected more than 300 state bridges since Hurricane Irene hit on August 27.
