Del. to join National Purple Heart Trail

    Delaware officials will mark a new way of honoring those who’ve been killed or wounded defending the United States today.

    The state is is joining the National Purple Heart Trail, which has markers in 45 states and Guam, with a plaque at the Interstate 95 toll plaza in Newark.

    The trail is intended to pay tribute to those who’ve received the Purple Heart honor with memorials on roads, highways, bridges and other monuments.

    Gov. Jack Markell, Sen. Tom Carper and other dignitaries will attend today’s dedication ceremony.
