Fashion show brings Center City banners to street level

It takes a dedicated model to strut around in a repurposed banner, and a determined designer to turn make clothes out of the tough material. Both efforts were on display at the Shops at Liberty Place yesterday when the Art Institute of Philadelphia helped the Center City District turn old signs into futuristic clothes.

WHYY’s Peter Crimmins was there for the show, along with NewsWorks web producer Lindsay Lazarksi. Check out their multimedia package on what it takes to make (and walk in) heavy nylon couture.
