Fairmount Avenue also slated for bike lanes later this month

With all the focus on the bike lanes coming to 10th and 13th streets later this month, it occurs to us something may have been overlooked: bike lanes are also coming to Fairmount Avenue.

Lizz Fiedler is currently working on a story for us about a bill floating around Philadelphia City Council that’s been tabled. It would require approval from Council before more bike lanes can be added.

We’ll hear more about that later, but we wanted to remind you: Fairmount Avenue between Broad Street and Pennsylvania Avenue will also get bike lanes later this month, though not the designated ones coming to 10th and 13th.

Similar to the lanes on Spruce and Pine that replaced a lane of car traffic, the lanes on 10th and 13th are pilots to determine how traffic flow might be affected. The Fairmount Avenue lanes are more traditional, and once they’re painted, they’re there to stay.

Check back later for more details from Lizz about the bike lane bill.
