ESPN says Sixers sale is looming

Update: ESPN has added video from Dallas, where the site is reporting talks with Comcast-Spectator are ongoing. Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated and the Associated Press cite a statement from Comcast-Spectator COO Peter Luukko that confirms talks about “the future of the team,” but does not mention sale.

Original report: Not only could the ’76ers be sold, the team could be sold to a group with ties to . . . New York.

ESPN reports a source says the sale of the team by Comcast-Spectator is “imminent,” though the league’s Board of Governors would still need to approve of the deal.

If the team is sold, the Sixers would be a tenant of Comcast-Spectator, which also owns the Flyers and Wells Fargo Center.
