Dover Air Force Base garden offers privacy for grieving families

Dover Air Force Base is welcoming a new spot where families of U.S. military personnel killed overseas can find comfort and solace.

A day after the Memorial Day holiday, officials at the base are dedicating a new therapy garden today.

“The Memorial Garden for the Fallen” is spearheaded by The Delaware Federation of Garden Clubs. The federation approached military officials last year and offered to donate an enclosed landscaped area, adjacent to a new center for grieving families at the Dover base.

The base is home to the nation’s largest military mortuary.
