Denied entrace at first, lesbian couple wins St. Joe’s Facebook contest

After first being denied entrance into a love-themed Facebook contest, St. Joe’s University grads Katie MacTurk and Megan Edwards have been declared the winners.

The couple submitted their photo and story to the school’s “How I Met My Hawkmate” Facebook contest, only to find out their submission hadn’t been approved because their same-sex relationship contradicts the school’s religious affiliation.

But the contest winner was chosen by the number of Facebook likes, and when the couple’s story hit the media last week, the likes just kept coming.
