DeMarco announces himself as 2nd District council candidate

Richard DeMarco has announced his candidacy for Philadelphia’s 2nd District City Council seat. He’s campaigning from the ground up, starting with Philadelphia Speaks, which he joined today.

Son of deceased attorney James DeMarco, DeMarco has served as a law clerk and water leader, and was a staff member to retiring Council President Anna Verna. The attorney also serves on the Philadelphia Zoning Code Commission.

DeMarco will likely face off against State Rep. Kenyatta Johnson, who’s considering a run.
