Delaware gas prices jump nine cents in one week

Delaware drivers are paying an average of $3.57 for a gallon of gas, about nine cents more than just a week ago.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price in the First State is also six cents above the national average.  Analysts say it’s likely the price will continue to climb steadily into the late spring.  The unseasonable spike in gas prices is due to several factors, and comes at a time of less demand.  “According to some analysts, speculation surrounding events in the Middle East coupled with Northeast refinery closings will steadily push prices up in the coming weeks and months, perhaps as much as 60 cents through the spring,” AAA Mid-Atlantic Public Affairs Specialist Jana Tidwell said.  Gas sells for an average of $3.45 in New Jersey and $3.61 a gallon in Pennsylvania.
