Delaware DUI laws bring treatment options and stricter penalties

Del. Gov. Jack Markell enacted yesterday a package of DUI reforms that will provide more treatment alternatives and stricter penalties.

The laws accomplish many things, including upping the penalties for repeat offenders, classifying the crime as a third-degree vehicular assault and implementing mandatory treatment for some offenders.

The signing took place in front of a DUI-wrecked car at the Minquas Fire Company in Newport.
