Delaware divided

    The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal has split Delaware in two since it was first dug in the early 1800’s.  Now a new trail along the canal’s banks is designed to bring Delawareans together.

    It’s been called things like ‘the ditch’ and been used with negative connotations to refer to residents on the opposite side. Construction is now underway on the Michael Castle Trail which will eventually stretch from Delaware City to Chesapeake City, Maryland.  You can learn more about the project from the Army Corps of Engineers’ website.
