Delaware County family makes video for national distracted driving campaign

Casey Feldman was 21 years old when a distracted driver struck and killed her in an Ocean City, N.J. street. Her family has joined others across the country for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s “Faces of Distracted Driving” series.

Feldman’s family made a three-minute video that captured the life of the Delaware County journalism student and her friends’ and family’s reaction to her death. The video is a supplement to the Department of Transportation’s 30-second “Get the Message” video, which features clips of families who’ve lost loved ones to distracted driving.

According to government statistics, in 2009 — the year Feldman died — “nearly 5,500 people died and half a million were injured in accidents involving a distracted driver.”
