Delaware County 9/11 memorial vandalized

Police in Clifton Heights, Delaware County, are looking for the person or persons responsible for defacing the town’s 9/11 memorial.

Built around a piece of the World Trade Center steel, the memorial now has deep scratches in it made by either a knife or a rock, the Delaware County Times reports.

People have been calling to offer reward money to the Clifton Heights Fire Co., where the memorial sits. So far, $200 has been raised for information leading to an arrest.

Repairs will have to wait until after the 10-year anniversary of the attacks, since it’s not clear how much work will be required to fix the damage.
