U.S. Rep. John Carney announced that he will run for a third term.

Since 2011, Carney has held Delaware’s only seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. In an email sent to supporters on Tuesday, Carney, a Democrat, outlined the progress he’s made in Washington.

“My primary focus has been on creating jobs, protecting and strengthening the American middle class, and developing a solid fiscal plan for the country,” Carney said. “From making college more affordable to finding ways to attract more manufacturing jobs to our state, I’ve been working hard to find reasonable solutions to the challenges facing our nation.”

Carney is currently running unopposed. The candidate filing deadline is July 8 and the general election will be held November 4.
