Deadspin riffs

Just Mayor Nutter’s luck:  On a day when Philadelphia’s weather paranoia was exposed nationally by the decision to postpone the Eagles-Vikings game, Brian Hickey drew the short straw to work the holiday weekend hosting Deadspin.com.

Hickey is a former editor of the City Paper who lives in East Falls.  And he spent all Sunday treating readers of the popular, caustic sports commentary site to a series of photos, rants attached, showing how little snow there was on city streets at various points in the day.

Here’s a (cleaned-up) sample (mommas, don’t let your tweens read Deadspin): “It’s an understatement to say I’m ashamed of the city in which I live because of this.  [Expletive deleted] fear-mongering meteorologists and the [dubious slur deleted] who allow their fear to get mongered.”

Do you think Brian had planned his evening around that Eagles game, or what?

He kept up the photo updates throughout the day. By mid-evening, even he admitted to being impressed by the howling power of the storm.

Still, it would have been fun to watch Brett Favre, the old lecher, try to throw a pass in that wind.
