Woman in wheelchair killed in hit-and-run

    Delaware State Police are searching for the drivers in a fatal hit-and-run crash in which a woman in a wheelchair was struck by three vehicles that all fled the scene.

    Police say 58-year-old Edith A. McFarland was crossing the street in her wheelchair around 6:35 p.m. yesterday in Wilmington when she was hit by a vehicle described as a gold truck or SUV. The woman was ejected from her wheelchair by the impact and was then hit by two other vehicles.

    Police say all three vehicles fled the scene. McFarland was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Authorities are trying to find the drivers of the three vehicles.
