Date set for Delmarva Coastal Cleanup

After most of the vacationers go home, volunteers will be out in force for a one-day cleanup of the Delaware beaches and waterways in September.

The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Delmarva Power today are announcing the date for the 2012 Coastal Cleanup:  Saturday September 15th.  More than 50 locations in Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey will be targeted.  Last year the Coastal Cleanup resulted in the removal of about 31,000 pounds of trash and involved about 2,700 volunteers.  To sign up as a volunteer, contact the Delaware Department of Natural Resources at 1-302-739-9902.  The 26th Coastal Cleanup will be held 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday September 15th.  Delmarva Power is the primary corporate sponsor of the event.
