Council Chairman says Delaware County’s outlook optimistic
The county may be losing a magistrate position, but things are otherwise looking up in Delco. Council Chairman Jack Whelan said yesterday he’s got “major optimism” for the county.
While at the State of the County luncheon with the Delco Chamber of Commerce, Whelan cited a manageable unemployment rate and growth in tourist revenue as positive impacts on the county.
The Delaware County Times captured Whelan’s address, in which he commended PPL Park, Power Home Remodeling and Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack for keeping the unemployment rate at 7.9 percent and bringing in revenue.
The AT&T National golf tournament at Aronimink Golf Club brought in $20 million alone.
PPL Park Major League Soccer created 600 local jobs. None of them; however, include playing for the Union.
