Council candidate says former ward leader tried to sell him an endorsement

We’re closing in on primary elections in Philadelphia. Grab your popcorn, because things are only now getting interesting.

WHYY’s Lizz Fiedler spoke with 7th District Council candidate Danny Savage and a guy who’s not supporting Savage: Carlos Matos.

Savage says the husband and son-in-law of Rene and Marge Tartaglione, respectively, agreed to endorse him for the council seat. If Savage gave him $35,000 and two jobs in exchange. Matos, a former ward leader, says, “Never ever ever!”
