Corbetts dub pups ‘Harry’ and ‘Penny’

Gov. Tom Corbett and first lady Susan Corbett have announced the names for their two Airedale terrier puppies: Penny, for Pennsylvania, and Harry, for Harrisburg.

The suggestions for the names came from children participating in the “Name the Pups” contest, which was open to Pennsylvania children 12 and younger.

Susan Corbett says she and the governor had a hard time picking between all 548 entries to the contest.

“We wanted names that were indicative of the residents and where we live now,” she said. “So we thought that Penny and Harry would be a good combination.”

Children who submitted Penny and Harry as names will get a signed photo of the Corbetts with their new pooches.

Every other child who entered the contest will be mailed a photo of the puppies.

Some of the other names sent in for the puppies include Aries and Dale, for the two Airedale terriers.

The Corbetts have had Airedale terriers in the past. Their last Airedale, Daisy, died during the beginning of the gubernatorial campaign in November 2009.
