A man stole a substantial quantity of the energy drink Red Bull from multiple Wawa stores along the Route 37 corridor in Toms River while a woman looked out, police allege.

The pair was caught on surveillance camera at the stores between 4 and 5 p.m. last weekend, according to a release from the Toms River Police Department.

Police say that the woman first entered the store and assumed a lookout position, while the man, carrying a black nylon suitcase, a clipboard, and cellphone, entered a minute later and walked toward the refrigerated beverage storage room.

Then two to three minutes later, the pair left, with the man wheeling the suitcase because of the added weight, according to police.

An inventory analysis prepared by the impacted Wawa stores found that there are multiple missing cases of Red Bull, with a value exceeding $800, police said.

Police describe the man as having a receding hairline, slicked back brown hair pulled into a ponytail, and a thin chinstrap style beard that may be graying on the chin, while the woman has shoulder length brown hair and a tattoo on her left breast.

The pair may be operating a dark colored — possibly black — older model Dodge pickup truck, police said.
