Motorists who normally exit I-95 at westbound Cottman Avenue will have to make new plans for the rest of the summer.

Cottman Avenue will be closed between State Road and Tulip Street. The detour starts today and will continue until Labor Day.

Gene Blaum with PennDOT says the closure is to install a four-hundred foot sewer main.

Motorists should look for signs if traveling westbound.

“There will be a posted detour that will take motorists over State Road,” says Blaum, “and they’ll turn left on Rhawn Street and left on Torresdale Avenue to get back to Cottmon Avenue.”

The road work is part of the $31 million improvement project that began last year and will end sometime in 2011.
