Camden’s 19 remaining library employees face layoffs as the county government prepares to take over. One of the three libraries in the city closed in August, and as the budget remains tight, the remaining two face constrictions.

The Associated Press reports layoff notices were sent to employees yesterday. The Ferry Avenue Branch will be taken over by the county, while the main branch could close and be supplemented by a space in the Rutgers University library.

Employees laid off effective Feb. 11 will be ale to apply for county library jobs.
