Close primary races still up in the air

There’s no end in close sight for the 2nd Councilmanic, Republican mayoral and City Commissioner races. While other Philadelphia candidates did their victory dances and gave their concession speeches last night, some will have to wait until the final tallies come in for their close races.

Results are expected later today at the earliest, Philly.com reports. After an early lead followed by a marginal setback, mayoral candidate Karen Brown is back on top. But she leads opponent John Featherman by only a handful of votes.

In the 2nd District, State Rep. Kenyatta Johnson and his opponent, Barbara Capozzi, are just about neck and neck. They’re also holding up the Commissioner tallies. As of late this morning, tallies from all but 60 precincts had been reported. Four of those 60 are in the 2nd District.

It could be Thursday before we have clear winners.
